We’re excited to announce Ben Johnson is joining the REPAIRIFY, INC. team as our Vice President of General Automotive Repair Markets. Ben will play a pivotal role with asTech Mechanical, the expansion of our OEM solutions to better serve the needs of the general automotive service and repair markets. asTech Mechanical will enhance the functionality of Repairify’s patented technology and improve support for mechanical repairers connecting remotely to asTech’s authentic OEM tools, allowing shops to complete any repair functions in-house that would otherwise require an OEM tool. asTech Mechanical will be launching this May! Collision shops should expect more from their diagnostic tools than just a pre-scan. Vehicles are becoming more complex, and shops and other stakeholders involved in the repair process will need to utilize data-driven automotive intelligence and technology for the entire repair planning process. Our president, Craig Edmonds, sat down with Huw Evans from Autosphere.ca to talk more about this shift based on his extensive experience and his perspective in his new role as the President of asTech. He also discusses the friction between insurers and repairers and how to keep everyone aligned on the ultimate goal: returning a fully-functional, pre-accident-condition vehicle to the customer. Dynamic calibrations have become part of everyday conversation in the automotive repair industry. However, for some shop owners, it’s highlighting their loss of potential revenue. Calibrations are becoming a standard requirement in the repair process to ensure the safety and accuracy of ADAS systems onboard a vehicle. Understanding the importance of calibrations and performing them in-house is key to staying at the forefront of the industry, and can ultimately save your shop both time and money. It's important for shops to oversee scheduling and deliveries, and when you sublet calibrations, you take the control and the money out of your shop. asTech can help you decrease your cycle time while ensuring a quality repair with our partnership opportunities and our technology, like the asTech All-In-One, to keep all collisions and repair services and revenue in-house. Join Kris Bjerke, Derek Mohart, and Michael Terry at our upcoming Lunch and Learn on April 23 to hear more about how to identify and perform dynamic calibrations to save your shop money. Kris Bjerke, director of R&D, Calibrations, and Implementation, joined Jason Stahl on the BodyShop Business Under the Radar podcast to talk more about how asTech is addressing collision repair shops’ ADAS needs. As the automotive industry continues to advance, so too do the technologies embedded within vehicles. ADAS have become integral components to enhance safety and driving experiences, but have proven to cause roadblocks for repair technicians. Here are a few challenges technicians face when it comes to calibrations: - Lack of knowledge - Trouble identifying the WHY behind systems - Limited time to research A calibration expert or partner, like asTech, can help train and educate your shop’s technicians to ensure vehicles are returned to their proper state. However, as we see fewer people enter into the automotive repair industry, there’s also an opportunity for shops to integrate more advanced technology, like ADAS calibrations, to perform complete and proper repairs. Our own Chris Chesney, REPAIRIFY, INC. Vice President of Training and Organizational Development, recently shared his insights on ADAS calibrations for service shops with Chasidy Rae Sisk. His perspective: The most important thing is performing a safe and proper repair, and that means ensuring a safety system operates EXACTLY as the manufacturer intended. The two key factors to ensure you’re performing a safe and proper repair? 1 - Reading and following OEM service information when repairing and calibrating a vehicle 2 - Making sure your team is fully trained on servicing ADAS systems. This is why, when we work with our customers on adding ADAS calibrations, we don’t just stop at providing the technology. We integrate ourselves as a true partner with ongoing support and training to make sure every vehicle in our customers’ shops is calibrated correctly.
